Chaga Mushroom Extract Capsules Organic
Chaga is the mushroom for the immune system. A real powerhouse that is full of valuable substances. This mushroom grows against birch trees and is harvested by hand in the forests of China.
What is Chaga?
The Chaga mushroom (Inonotus obliquus, in Dutch called birch Weerschijnzwam) grows mainly on the cracks of damaged birch trees in cold climates. This fungus can be found in Alaska, Canada, Scandinavia and Siberia. Chaga does not look like a 'normal' mushroom, but has the appearance of burnt coal. The mushroom resembles a blackened bulge stuck to a tree trunk. If you open this bulge, you will see that the inside of a fungus has a yellow to orange-brown color. Chaga propagates by nesting on a branch of a birch tree and thus extracting important nutrients from the tree. The mushroom then grows with the birch tree for 5 to 7 years until the tree dies. This makes the mushroom a parasite, but one with very powerful properties.
Did you know that Chaga is always harvested in the wild? This is because the fungus gets its powerful effect from the nutrients in the inner layers of the birch trees. This mushroom can therefore not be grown on another substrate because this nullifies its favorable properties.
Chaga: king of mushrooms
Chaga has been used for thousands of years for its health-promoting effect. In Traditional Chinese Medicine, this mushroom is seen as a real superfood. The Chinese call it the 'king of mushrooms'. But not only in China this mushroom is considered superior. In Siberia, for example, Chaga is called 'the gift of God' and in Japan 'the diamond of the forest'. This is not for nothing: the mushroom is famous for its healing effect. Russian folk medicine has used chaga tea to treat viral and bacterial infections since the Middle Ages. Recent scientific research has also shown that Chaga has a strong antibacterial and anti-inflammatory effect. One of the best-known properties of this fungus is its ability to strengthen your resistance in such a way that you are less susceptible to diseases.
Active ingredients
The Chaga mushroom contains a broad spectrum of active ingredients. Some of the key ingredients are polysaccharides, beta-glucans, betulinic acid and SOD antioxidants.
SOD antioxidants
Chaga is rich in so-called SOD antioxidants, which stands for Super Oxide Dismutase. These are powerful antioxidants that play an important role in the prevention of age-related complaints. Of all food sources on earth, this mushroom contains the most antioxidants. But what exactly are antioxidants and what makes them so important? Antioxidants is a collective name for vitamins, minerals and other nutrients. They help your body neutralize certain substances (free radicals), making them harmless. Free radicals can damage your cells, causing the body to age or disease. Because antioxidants neutralize free radicals, they help protect your cells. For example, antioxidants can help prevent premature aging, but also help prevent diseases such as cancer.
Natural killer cells
In addition to antioxidants, Chaga also contains betulinic acid and beta-glucans (multiple sugars). Beta-glucans and betulinic acid have a supporting function for the immune system. In addition, they have an inhibitory effect on inflammation.
Finally, the mushroom contains many vitamins and minerals, including vitamin B, vitamin D, potassium, copper, selenium, zinc, iron and calcium. The active ingredients in Chaga individually have a powerful influence on our health, but thanks to their synergistic effect, they all contribute to boosting your immune system. These active substances give the body an impulse to make more Natural Killer cells. Thanks to these extra auxiliaries, you are more resistant to viruses, bacteria or other foreign substances. This increases the body's ability to fight disease.

However, when using certain medicines, such as blood thinners or anti-diabetes medication, it is wise to consult a doctor before using the supplement. The active ingredients in the mushroom may increase bleeding risk when taken with anticoagulants or antiplatelet drugs. The fungus can also influence diabetes medication, increasing the risk of hypoglycemia or too low blood sugar.
How do you use Chaga?
